Opening track from my 2009 release

"Dar Cho"

Story

This song evolved from the opening 2 bar phrase that I just began to play one day.

I wrote it down, and didn't work with it for many years.

As we began to record "Relaxin on the Edge" I went back to it, finished the  piece, then arranged

it for the band including horns, and synth.

Chris Collins, sax solo, and myself on sythn / scat solo.

From the CD "Dar Cho" which is Tibetan for prayer flag.

The flags are hung near homes and on trails to impart

well being to passing travelers.

Story

This track from the "Dar Cho" session was recorded completely live.

Though Josh my engineer protested, saying he could get a better vocal sound if I sang it later

while not playing piano, with songs like this, I like to use the Frank Sinatra approach - everything live right now.

I think that "in the moment" interaction gives the overall recording a type of edge I like.

Story

I improvised this song as my good

buddy Ted, my 12 year old golden retriever, lay beneath the piano on

our last day together.

The music just flowed out to him.

For the Dar Cho session, I wrote out the piece and, with

the virtuosic talents of Rodney Whitaker, and George Fludas,

captured the feeling I'm sure all pet owners experience in these times.

Story

The title track from "Relaxin on the Edge" is meant to evoke the exhilaration

of reaching the summit of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park- seeing the views and reveling in the achievement.

It was recorded live in a small basement studio.

Solos - Walter White, Chris Collins, and myself.

Duke-Latouche-Hetter

Story

This song is from my first CD "Just Suppose"

It's a duo recording with my long-time compadre and collaborator Paul Keller,

who you may have heard with many other artists including Dianna Krall.

The studio had a wonderfull piano, and got a great sound from the bass.
